WHAT IS THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE AND WHAT DOES IT DO?
The Democratic State Central Committee are the grass-roots level elected volunteers of the Maryland Democratic Party. Central Committee members work to ensure the election of Democrats to public office, while encouraging the participation of the community through civic engagement and organizing. Central Committee members have the official responsibility to fill vacancies of certain offices due to death or resignation of elected official and fill any vacancy when there is a failure to have a Democratic candidate file for nomination. The Central Committee also recommends appointment of the members and substitute members for the local Board of Elections to the Governor.
The Baltimore City Democratic State Central Committee is comprised of 42 elected members from six legislative districts in Baltimore City that serve four-year terms.
Central Committee members will be elected during the Democratic primary election on
July 19th, 2022.
Early voting will be held from Thursday, July 7th, 2022 through Thursday, July 14th, 2022.
Early voting centers will be open from 7am to 8pm.
